Tsunami Support from the Foundation

When Tsunami struck SE Asia on December 26, 2004 , the directors very quickly decided to accelerate the Foundation’s plans to establish orphanages in SE Asia . In less than a few days, contacts were established in Southern India and after several hours of telephone discussions to over half a dozen key contacts in these areas, the following was established:

  • Partnership network in Southern India and Sri Lanka was finalized.
  • A travel plan was put together for a team of three people from the US to study the Tsunami affected areas in Southern India and in Sri Lanka . Our Asian partners were coordinating the schedule and establishing meetings in various areas.
  • After internal discussions and based on the various projects costs provided by our Asian partners, the Foundation very quickly determined the scope of what it can do in the Tsunami affected areas. The Foundation internally committed to building
    • An orphanage with 50 children in Nagappatinam , India
    • An orphanage with 50 children in Velankani , India
    • A small village to house 50 families in the Nagapatinam area.
    • An orphanage with 50 children in Trinconmalle , Sri Lanka
